A little bit of inspiration for all the dudes out there courtesy of Ray Petri and the Buffalo movement popularized in the 1980s via The Face (RIP) and ID Magazine. It was all about street style (before street style meant getting your picture taken because you’re wearing the shoes of the season and posted on whatever website), attitude and personality. Mixing high and low, “outsider culture” with some designer stuff, Petri and the rest of his cohorts created a look that is still relevant today.

Three of the most promising bands we’ve heard in a while are playing tonight at the Bowery Ballroom. I saw Real Estate at the Monster Island Basement with Beach Fossils, Girls and Kurt Vile last month and we danced all night. Plus it’s Wavves first show since their European breakdown, and Nathan broke his wrist Friday. Ought to be interesting. Who’s going? See you there.

Dash Snow died last night in a Manhattan hotel of an apparent heroin overdose. He was 27. He now joins Jean Michel Basquiat, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Brian Jones in the dead at 27 group. He had a daughter, Secret, with model Jade Berreau. May he rest in peace.
